New Rule: Bidding must increase by at least $0.5million total salary. All previous bids but from now on that is the rule.
Here's your rule on retirement:
If a player retires, then their free agent contract is automatically shortened by a year. If shortening it means that the player is no longer under contract, then their contract is up, and the signing team has no more obligations.
However, if a player retires and the shortening of the contract does not end their contract, the signing team must continue to pay that player their yearly salary through the end of the contract minus that one year.
Example: I sign Josh Hamilton to a 7 year deal worth $10 million per year. He retires after the 4th year of the contract. The contract is automatically shortened to 6 years, but I have to pay him for years 5 and 6, and those years count against my cap. So I'd have a retired a retired player on my roster counting as $10 million against my cap for two years.
The age of the player + the number of years on the contract must be LESS than 44. This is only players that have been reset, or not started yet.
This is just a warning to those who want to bid a large number of years thinking they can drop a retired player's contract.
I think I will start a few players bidding over (sorry to those who have bid before, but this just makes more sense).

Anyone you think has been offered a contract longer than when the player will retire please PM me. Only realistically, like Mariano Rivera, 7 years.

I have no problem with a 500k minimum increase, but this $100k FA salary is ridiculous when prospects start at $300k...makes more sense the other way around.

How many FAs have gone for 100k?

Does it matter?

I dont expect any free agents to go for $100 thousand so its not a big deal.

One went. But if you really want Mark Prior for 7/.7, you can have him.

for this year it should be kept as is since it's been that way up until this point. I can see the argument though for next year maybe.

I guess I'm with Justin, since nobody is going that cheap (except someone like Prior who, frankly, should be), I don't see the problem. If someone wants to waste a bid of 100k on someone, it makes it pretty easy for someone else to beat it.

are they worth much more than that though? I guess I don't see the big deal between 100k and 300k... I guess it does add up for the prospects.
