would anyone else be in favor of just starting over for next year? reset back to the current rosters for each real life MLB team and just start from scratch again? i know it would be frustrating for everyone who has worked hard assembling their roster for the future and is happy with their squad though. this might just be me but there are several reasons i am slowly starting to think this might be best...
-the first year of this league was essentially a test run. we have pretty much ironed out most of the kinks, figured out what works and what doesnt. but since so many rules have changed since november, many of the transactions agreed to months ago would not go down under the current format and also the draft was somewhat of a mess. starting over would make sure the whole season is played with a consistent set of rules and scoring categories would be much fairer for everyone IMO, especially the owners who had to take over for someone else.
-also, i think starting over would attract new GM's to play for next year. i could see someone excited to own their favorite team only to find that the star players have been dealt or the farm system gutted. if we keep the rosters as they currently are, we will never, ever, ever find a white sox owner. resetting the rosters would also undo all of the plentiful downright awful free agent signings that so many new owners (braves, cardinals) are left to fix after the previous GM's were stupid. considering how many new GM's we're gonna need for 2011, i think this would make the league much more appealling for newcomers knowing that they will get 100% control of their team's moves without having to worry about someone elses mess.
i know that was kind of long-winded but i honesty am starting to think starting over and resetting the rosters (but keeping everything else like scoring categories, draft setup, free agency/waiver rules, etc...) would be the best route for this league for next year.
what does everyone else (or whoever is left here...what is it? 4 owners left?) think about this?

I hate to say it, but starting over may be best. There are only a handful of GMs still active, and we can't even get transactions under control (no waivers in the last 2 weeks, trades going a month without approval, and the league managers aren't adding players to our ESPN teams). l agree that we'll likely never get a GM for the White Sox unless we restart the teams. I think we need to take the handful of GMs still in this and decide on a set of rules for a new 30-team league. Of course, I'll miss my team and my prospects, but it will help keep this league afloat. Only the Braves, Mets, Dodgers, Orioles, Phillies, Blue Jays, Indians, Royals, Brewers, and Reds have been active in the last few months, so those are the 10 teams I suggest to decide the new rules for a new league. Hopefully we can get enough GMs for a new league in time for a draft later this year. Personally, I wouldn't mind switching teams to the Red Sox (my favorite team), but let us know what you guys think about starting over.

Yeah I think this may be best. It will be the only way to lure new GMs in. What we'll need though is a strong base of owners that care enough to handle the "front office" stuff. I'm not saying anyone right now is guilty of this, but if you volunteer to take on the responsibility, then you either need to follow through or inform the league that you don't want the duties anymore, not just disappear and leave everyone hanging. If anyone has any doubt whether they might not want to do it, don't volunteer for it.
Also we need to find a new site for the league, the pro-boards search function is horrendous. Orioles site would work, but I get the feeling he doesn't have the enthusiasm to approve new owners or run it from his site (To Orioles: I have no idea if this is true, but you've shown some reluctance to be part of running the ship. please don't take any offense to me saying this, its not meant that way, just saying it how it is)
I'll volunteer to take care of the NL espn league, but thats about it, I'm not interested in being the commisioner of the whole league. That said, I am willing to assist in keeping the league going.
if you want to switch teams I have no problem with that.
I also think there should be a new owners guide compiled, with tips about joining the league. One of those being: Don't sign up if you aren't interested in playing year to year. It's extremely unfair for everyone else in the league. This takes a once a week commitment once you've established your team.
hopefully we can keep this thing going. Right now, I'm kind of pissed off about this league, so many people make the promise to commit to this or help run the league and then just shrug it off, leaving those of us who want to do something like this hung out to dry. I would really like this to work, since I've enjoyed it so far until recently.

I've been active, too, just haven't checked in this site in a few weeks since the new one got started.
I don't think starting over would solve the issues of this league. There needs to be such a high level of fantasy baseball understanding to succeed in this league, and such an enormous time comittment. And there is nothing keeping a team who just gutted their team or signed a large contract from leaving. I understand the idea, we all want to be MLB GM's, it's simply too much. Too many rules, too difficult to find proper owners, too much time and energy wasted already, and no reason to believe another try would yield a different result.
This is not a full time job, we're not getting paid enough (or at all) to leave our full time jobs, and the only people who have enough time to do this should be focusing on their studies so they can get full time jobs after school. No offense intended to all of you who have done so much and cared well for your teams like I have, this is just my (somewhat jaded) view.
I'll hopefully reign as the league's first (and only?) champion and then retire so I can admire my trophy full time.

Yeah this league isn't going anywhere. IT has been dead since the first week of August with the Twins-Rangers controversy

I was thinking exactly about this right now. I would like if everything was restarted too. Plus I wouldn't mind being in charge of approving trades and adding players to teams through the ESPN league.

to anyone still listening:
I think we should keep the option open of restarting the league, but it does seem dead. I'll keep checking in every once in awhile, but if it's going to get restarted, its going to need to be during the offseason. I'm in if others are.

all right so we have about 8 people in this thread open to keeping the league going for 2011 plus guys like phillies and orioles seem to still check in regularly and rockies would probably be willing to do this next season too.
i think im going to reset my roster to include only players and prospects who are in the mets organization right now. i encourage all other active owners to do the same with their rosters and if orioles or any of the commishes could reset the inactive owners' rosters that would be ideal.
once we reset all the rosters i think we can really get down to recruiting new GMs for 2011.
i would be willing to given administrator authority in order to help reset the inactive rosters. i dont think i would want to be a real commisioner but i would reset a bunch of inactive rosters if it would help.

I'm in. Sounds interesting to start over. Plus I got too close to winning to give up.

If we start over, can I choose another team? I came in as one of the last teams, and I'd rather start with another farm system than keep a team I have absolutely no interest in in RL.
If available (and I think they are), I'd prefer the Rays.

i just posted an early rough estimate of my 2011 roster. would it be possible for the administrators to delete all of the old 2010 rosters?
