i think one of the things that led to the decrease in people checking this site is the fact that the instant messaging/chat board that used to be at the bottom of the page got removed. i think a lot of people would come to the site just talk about baseball and other random stuff with other GMs even if there wasnt anything league-related that they had to check. but this obviously led to increased league activity due to more people coming on the site. i would love to see the chat board make a comeback

Does anyone know how to add that chatango board back on here?

I would agree with this. Does anyone know how to add that chatango board back on here? I was going to ask the same thing. That was helpful. I believe it was removed due to people possibly faking identities, but that would be shameful if it were to be an issue though there are those types of people. I would love to look into adding that. EDIT: I have an HTML code to add it, but I don't know where to put it in. In my admin settings, it says I don't have access to chat settings.

I think the stats need to be addressed. Having two rate stats for hitters just doesn't make sense, especially when there's also a counting stat like Ks where you want to have fewer. And I really don't like XBHs - valuing all extra base hits as equal doesn't make sense. I'd like to see SLG, XBHs, and Ks removed. That leaves OBP and SBs. I'd add TBs, to replace SLG and XBHs, but I'm not sure what I'd add for the other two stats. Ideas? For pitching, I'd love to see BBs and HRs added, but having two stats that you're trying not to get just doesn't make sense so I'd say forget about HRs. Replace QS with BBs (since QS is such an arbitrary idea) leaving Ks, BBs, SVs, HLDs, ERA. Yes, this seems to undervalue SPs in favor of RPs, but if we have a minimum number of starts per week it's probably fine. Alternatively, we could just go with the traditional 5x5 stats, but we'd still need to work HLDs in there somewhere.

I guess we could sort of talk about stats now: I know someone reccomended a 7x7 league because we don't have enough categories.
BB and BAA are 2 stats I really would like to add for pitchers. I really like QS in the system too. They are pretty important for SP.
OBP...Could that be repleaced by BA and BB which would separate it into two categories. Total Bases is exactly what I was thinking. BA, BB, TB, SB, K (if pitchers have walks, batters must have Ks),
I still need two more hitting categories. I think we're going to have to do something like OBP, Slugging, or OPS and something else.

If we have total bases then we shouldn't have slugging. If we have BA and BB then we shouldn't have OBP. There's no reason to have stats that count the same things unless you're intentionally trying to give more weight to those specific things for some reason. And there's a clear problem with having too many rate stats for batters: in the current format, if I happen to have a great day on Monday in terms of OBP and SLG, I can bench my entire lineup for the rest of the week and win 3 out of the 5 batting stats, guaranteed (OBP, SLG, and Ks).

Yeah, you are probably right about OBP and SLG

if we are going to do 7x7, we could add in CS. that way more value would be given to players like denard span instead of matt kemp or jose reyes instead of nyjer morgan. what do you think?

There is also a net stealing option that way benching players doesn't help, but 7x7 may require SB and CS to be separate

as for the pitching stats, i like Ks, BBs, SVs, HLDs, ERA, QS, and BAA.
if you dont like QS, perhaps we could replace it with IP?

I slightly prefer IP, but I'm really fine with either one.
As for CS, however, I think it's just another negative counting stat, like Ks for batters, that rewards people for having incomplete lineups. Not good. I'm fine with having Ks as long as it's balanced out with lots of positive counting stats and there aren't too many rate stats, but Ks and CS is just too much.

Traditional stats... like RBI? Runs scored?
